This was followed by a large public meet and greet at Ta’ Qali National Park, where hundreds of fans enjoyed the opportunity to meet the football icon. Later he joined local supporters to watch Manchester United’s 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace, offering half-time analysis and correctly predicting the final score.

The MTA said that the four-day visit concluded with wine tasting and platters at the Meridiana Wine Estate, exposing Malta’s growing wine industry, high-quality local produce and agro-tourism experiences as part of the islands’ evolving quality, all-year round tourism product.

Commenting on the importance of the visit, Tourism Minister Ian Borg stated, “our partnership with Manchester United forms part of a wider strategy to strengthen Malta’s international profile in key markets, while continuing to attract quality tourism throughout the year. The visit of a global sporting figure such as Nemanja Vidic reflects the value of this collaboration as it positions our islands as a destination that combines sport, culture, heritage and people at the highest level.”
