The Malta Police said that in the past days it successfully conducted another forced return operation, this time of two men to their country of origin in North Africa.

The Police said that one of them had entered Malta with a group of irregular migrants in the past year and, having not qualified for protection, was detained.

The other was found hiding on a vessel in Maltese maritime territory and was detained by the Armed Forces of Malta. Upon his arrival in Malta he was held in a detention centre until his forced repatriation.

The persons remained detained in a detention centre until all arrangements for their return were finalised. The Police added that the operation was also supported by a medical officer from the Detention Agency and an officer from the Monitoring Board for Detained Persons.
