The Qala Local Council said that it has decided “with a deep sense of grief and responsibility, to cancel the Carnival event that was scheduled for Friday night, as a gesture of solidarity and respect towards the Cutajar family during this profoundly tragic and sorrowful moment.”

In a statement, the Council said that “this moment of loss and heartache has affected not only the family but the entire village, which stands united in thought and prayer. In circumstances like these, we show that we are truly one community, bound together in unity and compassion.”

The Nadur Local Council concluded by saying that “we offer our sincere condolences to the Cutajar family and pray that they may find comfort and strength during this trying time.”
