A 41-year old man has pleaded not guilty to causing the death of an Armed Forces of Malta soldier in a traffic accident in Ghajnsielem on Thursday evening.
Dominic Peter Hedges, a UK national living in Gozo, was arraigned before the Gozo Court on Saturday morning in connection with the collision in Triq Borg Gharib, which claimed the life of Joey Cutajar of Nadur.
Hedges was charged with involuntary homicide, reckless and dangerous driving, overspeeding, failing to change direction or overtake another vehicle with due care and causing damage to Cutajar’s motorcycle.
The Defence made a request for bail which was objected to by the prosecution due to the seriousness of the charges and the early stage of the proceedings.
The court upheld the objection and denied bail.
