70 people arrested for living in the country irregularly

Police assisted by the Detention Services Agency, Jobs Plus and Identita, conducted coordinated inspections on public transport, passenger vehicles and construction sites across Malta, where 70 people were found living in the country irregularly.
Those arrested originate from Syria, Nigeria, Nepal, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Mali, Gambia, Niger, Yemen, Jordan, Pakistan and India.
They were taken to a detention centre until the completion of their return process.
The Police said that these inspections will continue to be carried out “with the aim of ensuring that persons living in our country have valid documents and the necessary permits.”
