Beppe Galea, Candidate for Gozo and International Secretary for the Nationalist Party, has issued at statement in relation to the temporary removal of the Net News Facebook page.This followed a number of reports filed against the page.

He said that, ”what happened to the Net News page is a serious attack on freedom of expression and on the public’s right to be informed. At a crucial moment for the country, we cannot accept attempts to ensure that only one voice is heard.”

Galea went on to say that ”thanks to our international contacts and immediate intervention with META, we managed to restore the service. However, this should serve as a clear warning of how far certain individuals are willing to go in order to silence the opposition and independent media.”
