Infrastructure works on Triq it-Tabib Anton Tabone, between Victoria and Sannat, have been completed, with approximately 1,500 square metres of tarmac being laid, the Minisry for Gozo said.
Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri stated that, “Triq it-Tabib Anton Tabone is now complete, or perhaps as it is better known, Triq tal-Qasam. This is a main road that connects the outskirts of Victoria, with Sannat. It also providing secondary access to Munxar and Xewkija.”
He explained that the project included the installation of new underground infrastructure, including a new storm water culvert that was connected to the existing rainwater collection system that drains from Sannat Square. ”This investment will further strengthen the management of rainwater in the area and reduce the risk of water accumulation on the road.”
As part of these works, a new cable for the distribution of electricity from Enemalta was also installed, while the infrastructure for the New Water service was completed so that farmers operating in the area have better access to water for irrigation, with a direct benefit to the Gozitan agricultural sector, the Minister said.
“This project is part of the extensive road programme that is currently under construction, and also part of the road programme that we will continue to press for in the coming months and years,” Camilleri said. ”Infrastructure on the island of Gozo will remain a priority, both in terms of arterial roads and, in particular, residential roads.”
