The PN has started journey of renewal which it must continue to build on – Borg

Nationalist Party Leader Alex Borg has said that ”this is only the beginning. the Nationalist Party has started a journey of renewal which it must now continue to build on with more work, unity, humility and determination.”

He noted that ”with the election called a year early, we had only a few months to prepare. We now have before us a five-year marathon to continue formulating our policy and the direction we want to give the country.”

During an interview with Ylenia Montfort on the programme Analizi on NET TV, Alex Borg said he is asking for the trust of the PN councillors ”not to start something again from scratch, but to continue building on the renewal project that began over the past months.”

He said the electoral campaign showed a Nationalist Party that had ”regained energy, optimism and a sense of direction. A party that managed to reach people who had moved away from politics and that began to rekindle hope among many Maltese and Gozitans who want serious change in the country.”

Borg stressed that the PN has a solid base on which to build, but must now take the next step to reach everyone. He said the Party must continue to listen, learn and improve itself every day, while strengthening its organisation, its communication and its relationship with people.

Alex Borg said the greatest lesson from the electoral result is that the Party must remain humble before the people’s verdict, but must never lose heart. The PN must be present not only during an electoral campaign, but throughout the full five years, close to families, young people, the elderly, businesses, civil society and all those who have lost trust in politics.

Alex Borg said the PN will be a” serious, credible and vigilant Opposition that places the national interest before any political calculation.” He said the Nationalist Party will support what is good for the country, but will be ”determined against what causes harm.”

In his appeal to councillors, Alex Borg said this is not a vote about a person, but about the direction the Party must take.

“Together we started a journey of renewal which we must now continue to build on,” said Alex Borg. “Your trust will be a mandate to continue strengthening the Party, to move closer to the people and to build a stronger Party for a better Malta.”
