Representatives of Europe Direct Gozo have taken part in an information visit to the European institutions in Brussels, together with Europe Direct and EU information providers from Malta.

The first day was held at the European Commission’s Visitors’ Centre and included briefings on the work of the European Commission, the Savings and Investments Union, the EU budget, the action plan against cyberbullying, and opportunities for young people through Erasmus+ and the European Solidarity Corps.

The second day continued at the Permanent Representation of Malta to the European Union, where participants gained a closer understanding of the EU decision-making process, the role of the Council of the EU, how Malta develops its positions on European matters, and the work carried out by Malta’s representatives in Brussels. The programme also included an interactive Council simulation.

The Europe Direct Gozo representatives explained that the visit provided a valuable opportunity to deepen our understanding of how the European Union works in practice and how EU policies are shaped, negotiated and implemented.

It also strengthened cooperation among EU information providers in Malta and enhanced our capacity to bring the European Union closer to citizens in Gozo.

Europe Direct Gozo expressed its thanks to the European Commission Representation in Malta for organising this visit.
