June’s unemployment rate recorded at 3.5%

Unemployment rateData issued by the National Statistics Office today has shown that in June the seasonally adjusted monthly unemployment rate stood at 3.5%, remaining at the same level as the previous month.

The number of unemployed persons was 12,146, marginally lower than the 12,408 for the previous month, however it was an increase of 36.2% on the same month in 2025.

The NSO noted that the 25 to 74 age group was once again the major contributor to the overall level of unemployment totalling 9,336 or 76.9%. The figure for unemployed youths amounted 2,810 or 23.1%.

The unemployment rate for males stood at 3.6%, and for females 3.4%. The rate for males decreased by 0.1 percentage points compared to the previous month. The rate for females remained unchanged.

The unemployment rate for persons aged 15 to 24 years (youth unemployment rate) reached 9.5%. The rate for those aged between 25 and 74 years stood at 2.9%.
