OASI Foundation applauds screen-free early childhood initiativeThe OASI Foundation of Gozo said that it ”welcomes and applauds” the opening of Seba’ Sema f’Kull Stagun, a new early childhood education centre placing screen-free learning and real-life experiences at the heart of its approach.

The Foundation said it believes that the early years of a child’s life are fundamental in shaping healthy development, relationships, learning and future behaviours. ”Creating environments where young children can explore, play, interact and learn without relying on screens is an important step towards promoting healthier habits from an early age.”

It particularly welcomed the centre’s decision not to expose children to screens, encouraging instead learning through play, exploration and meaningful real-world experiences. ”This approach reflects the importance of giving children opportunities to develop their creativity, independence, communication and social skills through direct interaction with the world around them.”

As an organisation committed to prevention and the promotion of healthy lifestyles, the OASI Foundation said it believes that prevention begins early. Initiatives that recognise the importance of a child’s environment and experiences during these formative years deserve recognition and encouragement.

The OASI Foundation concluded by congratulating Seba’ Sema f’Kull Stagun on this initiative ”and hopes that it will inspire further discussion and action around creating healthier, more balanced and developmentally appropriate environments for children across Malta and Gozo.”
