GO has once again pledged its full support to the local charity, Caritas Malta. Both parties have just signed an agreement that runs for the coming four years. In terms of the agreement, GO will be teaming up with Caritas in its ongoing drive to ease poverty and alleviate social difficulties at large. The initiative is in line with GO’s social commitment to support projects and activities with a strong community-focussed significance. The partnership has been going strong for the past 12 years or so and GO prides that, on several occasions, it has lent a land towards financing initiatives towards enhancing the quality of life for socially disadvantaged persons.

“We are proud to have yet another opportunity to team up with Caritas and play an active role in carrying out programmes targeted at promoting human development and voicing the rights of underprivileged members in today’s society,” said David Kay, GO’s Chief Executive Officer, David Kay.

“GO is acutely aware of its corporate social responsibilities and is determined to continue offering its full support to community-driven initiatives. The sponsorship underpins GO’s commitment to effectively care for the community in which it operates,” he went on.

Mgr. Victor Grech, Director of Caritas Malta, thanked GO for its ongoing support over the years and said that the organisation relied on the support of caring companies with a strong social conscience – such as GO – to reach its goals particularly those focussed on contending with the devastating effects of poverty in modern society as well as implementing care plans and rehabilitation programmes for youths with alcohol or drug problems.

He made reference to the importance of strong family values as one of the best remedies to counter the use of drugs and augured that the situation in Malta vis-à-vis drug-addiction would improve with the support of caring companies such as GO.

Caritas Malta is the leading local organisation dedicated towards providing holistic treatments to help overcome various social problems. Caritas works with a wide-range of socially disadvantaged individuals including the poverty-stricken, persons with social, psychological and emotional problems, drug-abuse victims, elderly people, those with alcohol and gambling problems, victims of usury, lonely youths, and homeless persons – among others.

The signing of the agreement between GO and Caritas was held at GO’s Head Offices in Marsa. Mgr. Victor Grech was accompanied by Anglu Fenech, Administrative Secretary for Caritas Malta.
