Diocese of Gozo announces a number of new appointmentsA number of new appointments have been announced by the Diocese of Gozo, “with the aim of helping the People of God in their Christian journey, according to current needs and demands.”

It said that these new appointments are being announced related to various ministries and services in the life of the Church in Gozo.

Fr Michael Grima, from the San Lawrenz parish, has been appointed Vice-Rector at the Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Victoria.

Fr Effie Masini, from St George’s parish in Victoria, is now Ecclesiastical Assistant for Catholic Action and within the Diocese Media and Communications Office.

Mgr Edward Xuereb, from St John Baptist parish in Xewkija, is now Curia Canonical Consultant and Vice-Chancellor for the Gozo Diocese.

Fr Gabriel Gauci, from the Madonna tas-Sokkors u San Girgor il-Kbir parish in Kercem, is now Archpriest of the parish of the Immaculate Conception and St Joseph in Qala.

Fr Massimo Buttigieg, from the parish of the Cathedral of the Assumption in Victoria, is now parochial vicar within the same parish.

Canon Alexander Cauchi, from the Parish of the Visitation of Mary in Gharb, is now a parochial collaborator in the Kercem parish of the Madonna tas-Sokkors and San Girgor il-Kbir.

Fr Mario Mercieca, from the Cathedral in Victoria, is now the parochial vicar in the parish of St Peter and St Paul, Nadur.

Canon Michael Mifsud, from the Parish of the Visitation of Mary in Gharb, is now the parochial vicar in the same parish.

Mgr John Muscat, from St Margaret’s parish in Sannat, is now a parochial collaborator in the Qala parish.

Fr David Pace MSSP, from the Missionary Society of St Paul, is now a parochial collaborator at the Madonna ta’ Loreto parish, Ghajnsielem.

Canon Franklin Vella, from the Xewkija parish of St John Baptist, is now a parochial collaborator within the same parish.

Fr Gerard Buhagiar, from the parish of Xaghra, is now Director of Manresa House in Victoria.

Canon Michael J. Galea, from the parish of Xaghra, is now spiritual assistant at the OASI Foundation.

Fr Samuel Grech, from the parish of G?ajnsielem, is now Director of the Don Bosco Oratory in Victoria.

Monsignor Edward Xuereb, from Xewkija parish, is now rector of the Santa Lucija community.

Fr Mark Bonello, from the parish of Xaghra, is now the bishop’s delegate for adolescents and youths and within the Gozo Diocese Commission for youths, which will now start operating from the Don Bosco Oratory in Victoria.

These new ministries in the Diocese of Gozo will come into effect on Monday, the 14th of September, the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. “It is in the light of love, revealed in the mystery of the Cross of Christ, that every ministry or service within the Church must find its centre and fulfilment, while being lived as a gift and service to others,” said the Diocese of Gozo.

The Church in Gozo expressed its gratitude to the priests and lay people “who have given their service with dedication and commitment in the work they have been covering until these last weeks.”

“Above all, the Church in Gozo thanks the Father for all the good that has been done through them and from which the People of God entrusted to their care have been able to enjoy.”

The Church said that all communities are encouraged to hold a moment of prayer during these weeks both in parishes and in families for these brothers and sisters.
