The Gozo Regional Committee, which forms part of the Malta Council for Economic and Social Development (MCESD), recently met with Prime Minister Robert Abela in Gozo as part of the consultation process ahead of Budget 2027.
During the meeting, the Committee presented its priorities for Gozo, structured around five strategic pillars, in order of priority: Infrastructure and Connectivity; Health; Economic Diversification; Education and Human Capital; Energy, Environment and Climate Change. Regionality was identified as a key enabler supporting the effective implementation of these priorities.
The Committee explained that together, these priorities seek to address Gozo’s realities and structural challenges, strengthen the island’s economic base, improve quality of life, and support sustainable and resilient development.
The MCESD concluded by saying that it remains committed to strengthening dialogue and ensuring that the voice of the regions forms an integral part of the national consultation process in connection with Budget 2027.
