Victor Pasmore Special Exhibition at Gozo’s Il-Hagar MuseumIl-Hagar – Heart of Gozo Museum has announced details of its next temporary exhibition – Victor Pasmore: The Cave of Calypso – which will be showcasing works by pioneering British artist Victor Pasmore (1908-1998), who moved to Malta in the 1960s, where he lived and worked until his death.

The exhibition establishes a conceptual link with the Cave of Calypso in Gozo, which became a source of inspiration for his abstract work. Rather than depicting the site, Pasmore translated its perceptual qualities into disciplined geometric compositions and reliefs.

The museum said that most of the works on display form part of the collection held by Milan’s lorenzelli arte, which has a long-standing history of exhibiting and promoting the work of this British artist.

Coordinated by Valerio Ballotta of GBK Ltd, who in 2027 will be celebrating 30 years in the arts sector, and curated by Prof. Vince Briffa, Victor Pasmore: The Cave of Calypso will officially open on Saturday, the 14th of November, at 7.30pm and will run until the 10th of January 2027. Everyone is invited to attend the official opening.

This exhibition is being presented in collaboration with lorenzelli arte, GBK Malta, the Victoria International Arts Festival Foundation, and the Victoria Local Council, and is supported by Visit Malta, the Local Government Division, Midsea Books, and CVC Media.
