Two elderly women were injured in a traffic accident on Thursday in Zebbug Road, Ghasri.

The Police said that the accident happened at around 11am, when a Mazda Demio being driven by a 72-year-old resident of Zebbug, collided with a wall and an electricity pole. A 71-year-old woman was a passenger in the vehicle.

Members of the Civil Protection Department assisted at the scene. Both women received first assistance by a medical team before being taken to the Gozo General Hospital.

The passenger in the car was certified as having grievous injuries, while the driver suffered slight injuries.

Police investigations are ongoing.
