The Ghajnsielem Local Council together with other 15 local Gozo councils signed an agreement with MEPA to fund projects that will help improve the quality of life for residents living in these localities.
The funds that have been allocated for Ghajnsielem will be used to embellish the Old Parish Square, the 10th December Square (adjacent the to the band club) and the area around the Ghajnsielem main square, in particular, Chambray Street.
The Mayor of Ghajnsielem, Francis Cauchi, said that such funds are being invested to regenerate the village core in order to increase tourism and enhance the quality of life of the residents. Parliamentary Secretary responsible for Local Councils Chris Said, commented that, “Government wants to achieve the goal of having sustainable localities and this can be reached only if urban environment is improved.” Mr Austin Walker, MEPA Chairman said that “These projects not only promote but also improve the local environment and increase the potential of our towns and villages.”
