Melita Mobile has said that the number of satisfied active Melita Mobile subscribers has increased by 11% during the second half of 2009 when compared to the initial launch period. Findings from a survey conducted by an independent research agency (BPC) revealed that active Melita Mobile subscribers recorded a higher level of satisfaction with the over-all quality of service provided by Melita Mobile.

They said that the survey was commissioned by Melita Mobile with the specific target of measuring the satisfaction levels of subscribers and also to identify those areas where service could be improved. The survey is also part of a wider and long-term strategy that was recently launched by Melita Mobile in order to identify and address any potential coverage problems.

Melita Mobile went on to say that it was launched in February of last year and in under twelve months of operation managed to reach an estimated 7 percent market share. The company is now well into double digit market share and continues to experience rapid growth thanks to a number of market propositions in the prepaid and the pay-monthly services, which provide the best value on the market. During the second half of 2009, minutes of usage on the Melita Mobile network increased by over 50% and the growth trend has continued throughout the first quarter of 2010.

“This upward trend that we continue to experience shows that customers are recognising that Melita Mobile delivers on its promise to offer more value for money. The mobile service we offer today is cheaper than the fixed line services of only a few years ago, and provides significant savings when compared to our competitors. The launch of our Unlimited Pay Monthly plans offered all our subscribers unprecedented all-time, super-low tariffs and contributed to consolidate our position as the mobile phone operator offering the cheapest rates in what was a total first for Malta,” said Mr. Andrei Torriani, Chief Executive Officer for Melita.

“Melita Mobile has during the past months embarked on an investment drive to improve mobile service and coverage across all areas. The plan includes an investment of over €5 million.”

“We are very satisfied with the initial customer response to Melita Mobile’s presence on the local market. Now our priority is to ensure that we listen to what our subscribers are saying and that we fulfil and exceed their expectations when it comes to service standards. We are taking concrete steps in order to make sure that this happens and we look forward to reporting more positive results,” concluded Mr. Torriani.
