A group of about 20 students attending the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology, MCAST, in Xewkija, this morning started to clean and carry out some maintenance work around the ‘Mgarr ix-Xini Tower.’
These students, who are boys aged between 16 and 17 years, are pursuing the Certificate Foundation Course. They are voluntarily taking part in this activity, which is being undertaken as an initiative of MCAST and Wirt Ghawdex, who has the responsibility of the tower as well as other historical sites in Gozo.
The activity started with an informative session about the history of the tower, given by Wirt Ghawdex. The students then began their work by painting, cleaning, collecting stones and cutting weeds.
Details on visiting the Mgarr ix-Xini Tower can be found on the Wirt Ghawdex website at www.wirtghawdex.org.
During Lejlet Lapsi the Historical Re-enactment Group of Malta will be holding skirmishes on Friday 14th at 2100, on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th at 1200 on St John’s Bastion. During the weekend they will be marching and drilling on St John’s Bastion and actually camping on the Low Battery. The Gunpowder Magazine and Silos will be also be open to the public at certain times during the weekend.

It’s good to see teenagers in such a positive & creative light.
In the UK, I’m sad to admit that, a group of lads usually means something or someone is being damaged.
