Liz Harris, who is based in the UK, is planning to swim from Gozo to Comino on Thursday the10th of June 2010.
The Gozo CCU Monitors Foundation has said that she is looking for sponsorship to raise funds for the Gozo CCU Monitors Foundation, a Charity based in Gozo, with the aim of supplying the CCU/ITU Ward and other areas of the Gozo General Hospital with life saving equipment. The current aim is for three new ECG machines at the hospital. These will be used on every patient who enters the hospital.
Liz has said that she has not done much swimming since she was at school 45 years ago and has very limited experience of sea swimming. However that has all changed over the past 8 months and she has been busy practising in her local pool in Chiswick, near her home in London. The swim is part of an open water swimming course with SwimTrek, who regularly hold such events in Gozo, including the qualifying swim for the English Channel crossing.
When Liz was last in Gozo, in October, the channel was teeming with huge brown jelly fish, thousands of them.
Please visit the CCU website if you would like to sponsor her on www.gozoccufoundation.com
