Concert held for Ghaqda Hbieb tal-Presepji 25th anniversary

Giovanna Debono, the Minister for Gozo attended a concert last Friday, given by Chorus Urbanus.

The concert featured works by Marco Betta, John Galea, Andrea Schembri, Karl Kempter, Marco Sofianopulo, Ennio Morricone and Oliver Sperling. The choir was given three standing ovations and the choir reciprocated by giving three encores: Verdi’s Coro degli schiavi ebrei from the opera ‘Nabucco’, Giuseppe Caruana’s Nadurawk ja Hobz tas-Sema and Schembri’s Ninni la tibkix izjed. The concert that was held at St. James Church, Victoria. As well as the Minister for Gozo, the current president of the Italian association, Dott. Alberto Finizio and its spiritual director, Padre Giuseppe Cellucci O.F.M. also attended. The audience was strictly by invitation.

This concert was held as part of a programme organised for foreign and local participants at the Italo-Maltese meeting of the Friends of the Crib Association held in Gozo between the 20th and the 23rd of May.

Currently the Italian association is composed of over 3,000 members that pursue its statutory objectives through the work of the sections scattered throughout the Italian territory. The purpose of the Association is to unite fans of the crib, to foster and renew traditions, and to help members refine their craftsmanship through exhibitions, competitions, conferences, technical courses and the Annual National Conference that is usually held in September in various seats of the Italian association scattered throughout the various regions.

Around 100 participants visited Gozo for this occassion which marked the the 25th anniversary of the Ghaqda Hbieb tal-Presepji in Gozo
