Exhibition of Twelve years of Skola Sport celebrated in Gozo

Students of primary and secondary schools in Gozo who participated in the Skola Sport programme during this year, took part in the last organised activity for this season in the Sports Complex in Victoria. This event also celebrated 12 years of Skola Sport in Gozo.
Present for this exhibition, were among others the Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono. She said that the Ministry for Gozo is continually investing in the Sports Complex, and in the near future in light of government’s vision of making Gozo an ecological island, there are plans to build a indoor swimming pool, which will prove as incentive for Gozitans to practice more sport and combat the problem of obesity. The Minister also mentioned the gym and weightlifting area newly launched in the sports complex earlier this year, as well as the ongoing work of maintenance inside the sports complex.
During this activity the best students were rewarded in in each age category. Each student was given a medal and certificate of attendance.
For the first time this year, the Skola Sport in Gozo offered new disciplines including dance, aerobics and squash. This apart from other sporting disciplines including hip-hop and breakdance, table / lawn tennis, gymnastics, climbing, cycling, martial arts, handball and basketball, hockey, and skills in the game of football. This year the Adventure discipline was also introduced, a new session where every Saturday groups of students were able to experience the adventure environment outside the Sports Complex.
