The stories covered in this weeks issue are:

1. Mgr Jimmy Xerri of Victoria was installed archpriest of Nadur on June 25. Mgr Xerri was accompanied to the Nadur Basilica by the clergy and family members, together with the Mnarja Band. Gozo Bishop, Mgr. Mario Grech led a concelebrated Mass during which Mgr Xerri was given the mandate of the parish.

2. The Legion of Mary in Gozo recently organized the 41st Marian Song Festival at the Oratory Don Bosco. The Festival was open to Gozitan singer from ten years upwards. There were three individual categories – A (10-11 years), B (12-14 years) and C (15 years -) and one for choirs. There were a total of 28 entries, 23 solo and 5 groups. The Festival was held under the patronage of His Lordship Bishop Emeritus Mgr. Nikol Cauchi and hosted by Brendan Buttigieg, Josianne Bezzina and Deborah Caruana who were the comperes for the evening. The trio Charlene Portelli (harp), Elaine Pavia (cello) and Noemi Attard (flute) were guests together with singers Diana Formosa and Francesca Sciberras.

The jury was composed of a panel of four persons, all coming from Malta and well involved in the musical scenario. There were three main competitions; for diction and poetry, for the best original music and for the best interpretation. At the end of the festival, His Lordship Bishop Cauchi accompanied by the new Legion of Mary President in Gozo, Mr Grezzju Cauchi, distributed the trophies to the winners.
