Having considered the recommendations of the ORNIS Committee, the Government has announced the dates of the autumn hunting season
Hunting can take place from the 1st of September until the31st of January from 2 hours before sunrise to 2 hours after sunset from Monday to Saturday. On Sundays and public holidays, hunting can only take place from 2 hours before sunrise until 1.00pm.
As protection for birds of prey, for two weeks (between 15th of September and the 30th of September) hunting can not take place after 3.00pm
Hunting at sea can take place between the 1st of October and the 31st of January 2011.
The trapping of Turtle Dove and Quail will be possible, by derogation, between the 1st of September and the 30th of October 2010, while the Golden Plover and Song Thrush will be possible between the 20th of October and the 10th of January 2011.
The government said that details of the derogation will be announced in the coming days.
