The Malta Resources Authority have announced that in order to further encourage the use of renewable sources of energy for domestic use, the following Grant Scheme has been launched. The scheme is part financed by the European Regional Development Fund.
All eligible applicants who apply for the scheme of photovoltaic panels would receive assistance of up to 50% of the capital expenditure up to € 3000. It is estimated that up to 400 families will benefit in the first year of the scheme.
The authority said that through the feed-in tariffs that were announced yesterday, anyone taking advantage of the assistance and investing in such a system would enjoy a guaranteed feed-in rate of €0.25 for each kWh (Malta) and €0.28 for each kWh (Gozo) generated.
For the scheme of solar water heaters, eligible applicants are as below;
· families who benefit from the benefit of energy;
· those who receive additional assistance;
· families whose income is less than € 23,923 and benefit from the Childrens’ allowance;
· All residents of Gozo, to further strengthen the concept of eco-Gozo;
· low income families, and
· those who are buying property for the first time, for a value not exceeding € 120,000.
Families will receive assistance of 40% of the cost of solar water heaters systems, up to a maximum of € 560.
Application forms for the grants are to be submitted to the Malta Resources Authority between 28th July 2010 and 10th August 2010. Applications can be downloaded from www.mra.org.mt
It is important that Applications (Part A (Application for Grant) and Part B (request for Reimbursement) are to be submitted hand personally by the Applicant or by an adult member residing in the same household of the Applicant at MRA offices or, for Gozo residents, at: MEUSAC Offices, The Brokerage, Level 2, Triq Santa Martha, Victoria, Gozo (site corner with Flamingo Bar). Applications may also be sent by mail to the Malta Resources Authority, Millennia, 2nd Floor, Aldo Moro Road, Marsa, MRS 9065.
