Bank of Valletta has said that it has pledged to renew its long-term support to Caritas for another five years. Through this support, Bank of Valletta will support a number of initiatives undertaken by Caritas over the coming years.

To mark the renewed support from BOV, Mgr. Victor Grech Director of Caritas Malta accompanied by Anglu Fenech, Administrative Secretary paid a courtesy visit to Tonio Depasquale, Chief Executive Officer at Bank of Valletta at the Bank’s Head Office in Santa Venera.

“The Year 2010 has been declared as the European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion by the European Union,” said Mgr Grech. “Our Programme of Activities for this year aims to increase awareness of the existence of poverty, encourage the general public to recognise that they have a role to play in combating poverty and social exclusion, and stepping up our own operations to make our work with people in need more effective.”

“Bank of Valletta’s role within our society goes beyond providing financial services,” said Mr Depasquale. “The Bank’s support to Caritas continues to underline the Bank’s commitment towards the improvement of Malta’s social fabric.”

“We are confident that with Bank of Valletta’s help, we will get closer to our goals while improving our drug prevention and rehabilitation programmes among others,” concluded Mgr Grech.
