Yesterday evening the CABS teams, now in their 14th day on the island for Operation Safe Passage, said they were heartened by a visit from The German Ambassador HE Bernd Braun and his wife at the Laferla Cross vantage point overlooking Buskett Gardens, an important night roost for migrating birds of prey.
The Ambassador was accompanied by staff members from the Embassy in Valletta.
As well as discussing bird conservation on Malta with German and British team members, the Ambassador also took the opportunity to thank the A.L.E. team covering the area for their unit’s constant support for the conservationists over the past two weeks. The Ambassador and Mrs Braun said that they would be paying more visits to the Maltese countryside in future.
The CABS spokesperson said that In comparison with the large fly-ins over the past days there were few birds to be seen, nonetheless a flock of Bee-eaters foraging overhead and an aerobatic display by Barn Swallows provided entertainment for all present. Then, shortly after the party’s departure a Lesser Spotted Eagle graced the skies high over Buskett, a reward at the end of a hard day’s work for the CABS’ members present, the spokesperson said.
I wish that the Ambassador and Mrs Braun remind our Prime Minister to get a lot tougher with those idoits Hunters, that we have in Malta and Gozo .
If our Prime Minister keeps playing the same Ball with the hunters, there will never be any improvment in Malta and Gozo. Because they will kill any thing that moves.
PS. The votes are much more important to the Maltese and Gozitan Officials, than the Birds are. Can you explain that to the AMBASSADOR and MRS BRAUN please????
