The President and Mrs Abela recently visited Bank of Valletta’s Head Office in Santa Venera where piggy banks for the BOV Istrina Piggy Bank Campaign were being prepared for distribution in all primary and secondary schools around the Maltese Islands. The President was greeted by Bank of Valletta CEO Tonio Depasquale.

The BOV Piggy Bank Campaign has now become an integral part of Istrina. This is the seventh consecutive year that BOV is teaming up with Istrina to encourage school children to donate some of their pocket money to the Malta Community Chest Fund. Over the coming weeks, 5,000 piggy banks will be distributed in every class of every primary and secondary school in Malta and Gozo and selected retail outlets.

All the funds collected through the BOV Piggy Bank Campaign together with a donation by Bank of Valletta will be presented during the live broadcast of Istrina on the 26th December 2010. The campaign helps to raise awareness amongst younger generations about those members of society most in need.
