The BOV L-Istrina Piggy Bank Campaign 2010 was officially launched at Maria Regina College, St Paul’s Bay Primary School by Ms Margaret Abela accompanied by Michael Galea, Chief Officer Operations at Bank of Valletta.

The BOV L-Istrina Piggy Bank Campaign, now in its seventh year, helps raise much needed funds for those in need as well as raise awareness amongst the younger generations about the needs of others within the community.

Ms Abela emphasized the fact that by putting aside a little bit of their pocket money, the total amount collected would make a difference to those most in need. Mr Galea highlighted that, through this campaign, children and their families were showing solidarity with those, in our society, who require most support.

The BOV L-Istrina Piggy Bank Campaign sees over 5,000 piggy banks distributed in all classrooms in Malta and Gozo as well as a selection of retail outlets. Ms Abela, accompanied by Bank of Valletta representatives will be visiting a number of schools over the coming weeks to encourage the collection of funds and raise awareness.

The final amount collected, together with a donation from Bank of Valletta will be presented during the live broadcast of L-Istrina on the 26th of December.
