The Department of Information has advised that Gozo Bishop Emeritus, Nikol Cauchi’s condition is stable, but still critical.

Mgr. Cauchi is being cared for at the intensive care unit at the Mater Dei Hospital in Malta, after being flown there on Thursday morning from the Gozo General Hospital. The Bishop was suffering from heart faliure and a chest infection.

The Bishop’s pneumonia has shown improvement with the use of antibiotics and a ventilator is supporting his breathing, the DOI said.
