The National Sanctuary of the Assumption of Our Lady in Heaven (known popularly as ‘Ta’ Pinu National Shrine’) will join the Universal Catholic Church in the Celebration of the Solemnity of Our Lord’s Nativity with the following programme of religious celebrations:
Friday 24th December 2010: Christmas Eve.
6.30pm: Vigil Mass with homily.
The Sanctuary closes at 7.30pm and opens again at 10.30pm.
11.00pm: Christmas Carol Singing by the Nativitas Choir.
11.30pm: Procession with the statue of Baby Jesus inside the Sanctuary followed by the Christmas sermon by Carolyn Gambin and the Singing of Psalms.
12.00am: Solemn Concelebrated Mass presided by Rev. Gerard Buhagiar, Rector of the Sanctuary, and animated by the Nativitas Choir under the direction of organist Ivan Attard.
Saturday 25th December 2010: Solemnity of the Nativity of Our Lord Jesus Christ. This is a day of obligation.
Masses at the Sanctuary will be celebrated according to the Sunday schedule, ie. 6.15am, 8.30am, 10.00am (transmitted live on Radio Maria), 11.15am and 5.00pm.
Sunday 26th December 2010: Feast of the Holy Family of Nazareth.
On this day, we pray for all the Christian families so that they will renew the vows made on their wedding day and remain strong in love.
Masses at the Sanctuary will be celebrated at 6.15am, 8.30am, 10.00am (transmitted live on Radio Maria), 11.15am and 5.00pm.
Friday 31st December 2010: Last day of the Civil Year 2010.
6.30pm: Solemn Mass ending with the singing of the Te Deum as thanksgiving to the Lord for the graces poured unto us during this ending year 2010.
Saturday 1st January 2010: Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God. This is a day of Holy Obligation.
Masses at the Sanctuary will be celebrated according to the Sunday schedule, ie. 6.15am, 8.30am, 10.00am (transmitted live on Radio Maria), 11.15am and 5.00pm.
Sunday 2nd January 2010: Solemnity of the Epiphany of the Lord.
Masses at the Sanctuary will be celebrated at 6.15am, 8.30am, 10.00am (transmitted live on Radio Maria), 11.15am and 5.00pm.
