Government issues warning for anyone travelling to Tunisia

All persons travelling to Tunisia should note that there have been demonstrations in different locations across Tunisia and that some have resulted in violence. On Wednesday the 12th of January a general state of emergency was declared and a curfew was announced in greater Tunis (Tunis, Ben Arous, Ariana and La Manouba) forbidding people to go out between 8.00pm and 05.30am.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has advised that Maltese Nationals should stay away from large gatherings and demonstrations, exercise caution, respect the curfew even in areas that are not listed above. They are also advised to observe all instructions given by local security authorities.

In case of emergency, any travellers, or Maltese nationals living in Tunisia, are advised to contact the Maltese Embassy emergency numbers listed on the following website:
