The La Stella Philharmonic Society are organising a concert to be held on Saturday, the 12th of February 2011. The concert will be themed around films and musicals and is entitled ‘Soundtracks Alive, Music from the Movies.’

Pieces will be perfomed from famous composers such as John Williams, Hans Zimmer, Henry Mancini and Ennio Morricone among others. With Movie soundtracks from Ben-Hur, Last Of The Mohicans, The Godfather, The Mission, The Mask of Zorro, Titanic, Lion King, Beauty and The Beast, Schindler’s List and many more. Also being performed will be excerpts from the 2006 film, The Da Vinci Code, executed for the first time by a local band.

The La Stella Band will be under the direction of George Apap and the concert is sure to appeal to both music lovers and movie buffs alike. The concert will be a composite of the best visual presentation, accompanied by dancing from the Centre Stage Dance Academy, with choreography by Natalie Sciortino.

‘Soundtracks Alive, Music from The Movies” will be performed at the Astra Theatre, Victoria, on Saturday, the12th of February 2011, at 7.30pm. Entry is free.
