The Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono, recently launched the mascot Kikku who from now on will be representing children within the eco-Gozo project. The Minister also inaugurated an exhibition of paintings and writings by children attending primary schools within the Gozo College at the Ministry for Gozo`s exhibition Hall.
The exhibition will feature the children’s thoughts, paintings and ideas on Gozo and their willingness to see a better Gozo. Many of the drawings and thoughts are those which were provided during during the Public Consultation phase on eco-Gozo, which had included an extensive exercise with Gozitan children through schools.
Kikku will be the voice of children for Eco-Gozo. and will be the front liner to voice the children’s thoughts and ideas on how to make Gozo a better place to live in.
The exhibition is being held at the Exhibiton Hall, The Ministry for Gozo, St Francis Square and will be open Monday to Friday 8.30am-12.30pm and 1.30pm-4.30pm, Saturday and Sunday, 9.00am-12.00 midday.
So finally after all the hype about an Eco-Gozo at the last election Giovanna and her ministry are making progress. They have got someone to dress up as a bee!
Can the Minister tell us if she is for or against the Hondoq Marina proposal? Can she tell us her stance on the much talked about Malta/Gozo air link? How does she feel about the illegal development encroaching on the belvedere in Ghajnsielem? What are her thoughts on the recent damage caused to the fossil beds at Dwejra? What are the Minister’s thoughts on the continued development in Gozo in the light of 10,000 vacant properties on the island? How does she feel about the destruction of the citrus groves by the Nadur cemetery development? What about the illegal dumping at Ta’ Muxi, near Qala? These are just an example of issues, which impinge upon an Eco-Gozo concept and for that reason should be dealt with by the Minister. The statement below is from the official Eco-Gozo site;
