Former Prime Minister Mr Dom Mintoff was admitted to Medical Ward 1 of Mater Dei Hospital yesterday afternoon at 2pm due to a deterioration in his level of consciousness.
Mr Mintoff is 94 years old and has had repeated admissions over the past few months. Following intensive medical care, his medical condition had stabilized to such a degree as to allow discharge to his home. At home he continued to improve until yesterday morning when he was noted to be semiconscious.
In a statement released this afternoon the DOI has said that since admission, the former Prime Minister has been reviewed by his medical team and he has undergone thorough investigations, including a CT scan of the brain, and has received treatment accordingly. His condition has now improved and his medical team has described his condition as stable considering his age and numerous medical problems.
