Last Saturday, the Teatru Astra hosted a most enjoyable evening featuring a cluster of popular soundtracks from various films and musicals issued over the past 50 years.

Well known compositions from the great movie circle, such as, Titanic, The Godfather, Last of the Mohicans, Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, Beauty and the Beast, The Mission, Schindler’s List, The Lion King, The Mask of Zorro and Ben-Hur were played to perfection by a group of musicians from the La Stella Philharmonic Band, in front of a large and enthusiastic audience. The band was ably directed for the very first time by the young and energetic conductor George Apap, clarinetist and music teacher within the La Stella Philharmonic Society.

A first-timer for a local band were selections from Hans Zimmer’s, The Da Vinci Code nominated for the 2007 Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score.

Some of the musical numbers were also enhanced with a splendid display of choreography, presented by Natalie Sciortino’s Centre Stage Dance Academy.
