A recent inspection carried out by the Malta Standards Authority revealed the existence of an insecticide for agricultural and general purposes containing DDT as an active substance.

The use of DDT has been banned within the European Union and also within many other countries of the world since 1970s under the Stockholm Convention due to its serious threat to human health and the environment.

Anyone in possession of such products should contact the Malta Standards Authority on 2395 2000.
