The Gaulitanus Choir will have a two-fold involvement in this year’s edition of Lejlet Lapsi: Notte Gozitana. The choir will not only be giving a concert itself at Savina Church, Sabina Square, Victoria this Saturday, the 4th of June at 8.15pm, but will also be hosting a British choir for this occasion. The Wooburn Singers will be giving a lunchtime concert at St. James Church, Independence Square, Victoria on the same day at 12.00hrs.

The 35-strong choir directed by Greg Beardsell will interpret a cappella works ranging from the Renassaince to the contemporary. This choral group will vary their performance by initially singing a few secular numbers on the church’s parvis and then other sacred numbers inside the church itself.

The Wooburn Singers is one of the leading chamber choirs in South Buckinghamshire. Rehearsing in Wooburn, they perform about five concerts per year in the area in towns such as Beaconsfield, Marlow, Amersham and High Wycombe, ranging from a cappella works to large choral pieces. Founded in 1967 by Richard Hickox, it has earned a fine reputation as one of the UK’s best amateur mixed voice choirs.

The 60-strong choir covers a wide and varied repertoire. Recording credits include Berlioz’sTe Deum under Abbado, Langlais’s Salve Regina and Burgon’s Requiem, and a compilation of Music for the Last Night of the Proms with the RPO and Sir Charles Groves which was a best seller at the time of its release.Wooburn Singers has also sung in London’s major concert halls and in other European cities. Foreign tours have taken the choir to Krakow, Venice, Paris, Prague, Geneva, Tuscany and Barcelona.
