The Teatru tal-Opra Aurora in Victoria has said that the Gala Premiere of the film John Paul II, ìI kept looking for you…’ has been postponed, due to unforeseen circumstances, to October 20th, 2011 at 8pm.

The premiere screening, under the distinguished patronage of H.E. the President of Malta, was scheduled for next Friday, but due to ongoing preparations for pending major structural works, the gala premiere had to be transferred to the next theatre season. Next Friday 17th June, happens to be the closing date for the submission of tenders, through which bidders offer to replace the mammoth ceiling of Malta’s largest opera house – an operation which is expected to be completed within 10 days.

A production of Artrama, John Paul II, ‘I kept looking for you…’ uses exclusive footage from the CTV, Rai, Luce, Mediaset, the Vatican Film Library, the National Film Library, WFDiF, TVP and Polish Press Agency amongst other primary sources.

The most important feature of John Paul II. ‘I kept looking for you…’ is the exclusive footage and shots especially made for the purposes of the film, of the statements made by contemporary authorities, in memory of John Paul II. These testimonies include, heads of state, including former Malta President Guido De Marco, prominent cultural figures, actors, fashion designers, journalists, the most important religious leaders (including the 14th Dalai Lama, the Tibetan spiritual leader, Yisrael Meir Lau, Head Rabbi of Israel from 1993-2003 and the Patriarch of Constantinople, Bartholomew I).

The film is is the largest production devoted to the Polish Pope in the global history of documentary films. Jaroslaw Szmidt, a young generation director, has created an image which speaks in a universal language, devoid of barriers or limitations.

Tickets already issued for the gala premiere scheduled for next Friday remain equally valid for the now-postponed evening, with no need for ticket exchange.
