Data from the National Statistics Office shows that in June, the producer price index for total industry remained stable. Although the intermediate and consumer goods sectors both edged up by 0.1 per cent, this did not affect the total index. The energy and capital goods sectors remained the same.

Producer prices in the domestic market were unchanged, throughout all sectors. During the month, prices for the non-domestic market went up by 0.1 per cent on account of an increase in prices for intermediate goods and for consumer goods. There was no change in the capital goods sector.

Producer prices in respect of goods destined for the euro area did not change, although a 0.1 per cent was recorded in prices within intermediate goods. The capital and consumer goods remained stable during June.

Prices for goods destined for the non-euro area went up by 0.1 per cent, as a result of an increase of consumer goods by 0.6 per cent. The intermediate and capital goods sectors retained the same levels.

Year-on-year, producer prices for total industry decreased by 0.4 per cent. During this period, producer prices for intermediate, capital and consumer goods went down by 0.8, 0.7 and 0.1 per cent respectively. However, prices for energy edged up by 0.2 per cent.

Producer prices within the domestic market moved up by 0.8 per cent. Intermediate goods, energy, capital and consumer goods rose by 6.1, 0.2, 1.5 and 0.6 per cent respectively.

In the year under review, producer prices for goods destined for the non-domestic market decreased by 1.2 per cent on account of a price decrease in the euro area by 1.5 per cent, which was partly offset by an increase of 1.6 per cent in the non-euro area.
