Local rockers Saving Alexis are currently promoting the release of their latest single, “High on July”, through the Maltese airwaves and social media. The song is the first to be accompanied by a music video. Directed by Nick Morales and produced by No Sweat, it is a recipe for fun and laughs mixed with plenty of action which basically sums up the perfect summer party. The video can be found directly through the band’s official YouTube channel, WeAreSavingAlexis.

“High on July,” was an experiment for the boys who decided to take on the challenge of extending their boundaries and taking on the masses with something slightly different. The rap verses and ska guitar blend in with the heavy power chord-based choruses typical of Saving Alexis’ sound.

Now the quartet is focusing on writing new material to beef up their current arsenal of originals and booking places to play in the near future, from as early as mid-September. They plan to play in both Malta and Gozo to reach new ears and make more fans in Malta as well as accommodate the heavy Gozitan following due to having three-fourths of the band from the sister island.

Other plans include the unveiling of the band’s official website which is still under construction and the selling of new merchandise. Never known to shy away from the fans, Saving Alexis interact regularly through the official Facebook page and blog, which can be found at: http://savingalexis.wordpress.com/

Rising from the ashes of the now-defunct Gozitan band Tears of Revenge back in 2006, founders Chris “Riot” Cassar (vocals, rhythm guitar) and Clayton Bonello (bass) make up half of the current lineup, with full-time drummer Melchior Busuttil joining the ranks in 2008. The final piece to the puzzle, Chris “Red” Farrugia (lead guitar, backing vocals), made his live debut with the band in December 2010.

Mutual influences include ’90s and modern-day pop punk bands such as The Offspring, blink-182, My Chemical Romance, Sum 41 and We the Kings.
