MUMN Secretary-General, Paul Pace, has issued an MUMN statement today saying that “although the Government has been repeatedly stating in various media that it considers the oncology sector as one of its main priorities, the truth is far from such.”
MUMN continued, “Boffa hospital, not like Mater Dei Hospital is considered third class to the Health Division. Nurses at Boffa Hospital are not provided with a proper hand liquid soap and other cleaning detergents such as in Mater Dei Hospital. Even though the super Bug MRSA also exists in Boffa hospital.”
“Nurses are working without proper hand liquid soap and therefore suffering from skin allergies and skin conditions” MUMN said. The statement went on to say that, “cheap unbranded cleaning products including hand hygiene products are bring purchased specifically to Boffa Hospital since Boffa management refuse to purchase products from the main general stores which supply Mater Dei Hospital.”
“Apron Holders and proper liquid soap dispensers have not been purchased for the benefit of the patients residing in Boffa Hospital,” MUMN said.
MUMN concluded, “althought it has made several tentative measures to address this situation, the Health Division is more concerned on the financial budget then on the welfare of the nurses and the patients.”
