The Government has announced today that it will be withdrawing the honours that were previously awarded to the former Libyan leader, Muammar El-Gaddafi.
Col. Gaddafi had been made an honorary member of the ‘Xirka Gieh ir-Repubblika’ on December the 5th, 1975 and an Honorary Companion of Honour-with Collar, of the National Order of Merit, on February the 8th, 2004.
A resolution for the withdrawal of the honours will be presented when Parliament reconvenes after the summer recess.
