Victor Grech, a resident in the Elderly Section at the Gozo General Hospital, celebrated his 102nd birthday yesterday, Sunday, the 28th of August. His family said that Victor is the first resident in this unit to have reached that age.

Members of Victor’s family organised a party at the Elderly Unit to celebrate this unique event. Victor is the eldest of a family of 10 and never married.

His siblings, Gulina, who resides in Australia, Teresa, Rita, Michael and Salvina all said that they would like to thank everyone who contributes towards the care of their brother. Four members of Victor’s family, Guzepp, Frenc, Toni and Mary Anne have passed away.

Victor’s family said that he used to work as a farmer and a stone mason, he is mentally alert and was always popular with people who sought advice on construction work. Victor did voluntary work at the Ghasri parish church and is still a benefactor of the parish.
