A large number of tyres and glass bottles were recovered from the seabed in the Blue Lagoon at Comino, by a group of nine volunteers of the Emergency Response and Rescue Corps (ERRC). The team had spent the last few days working there as part of their contribution in the Green Wave project.
This is one of two projects being carried out by the ERRC, which include various ideas relating to the promotion and protection of the marine environment.
The ERRC said that these projects have been made possible by the benefit of a total grant of €50,000 under the scheme launched by the Ministry for Gozo for Non Governmental organisations related to the eco-Gozo action plan 2010-2012, including those that promote enhancement and protection of the marine environment.

I would just like to say a big thank you to these volunteers of the Emergency Response and Rescue Corps (ERRC) for their work in removing this rubbish from the seabed in the Blue Lagoon. The sad part to this story and the question that these volunteers are probably asking themselves is how could people have so little respect for one of the most beautiful diving areas in the world that they would turn it into an underwater dump?
The ERRC volunteers excellent work never ceases to amaze me, their commitment and dedication is a credit to them. Well done and thank you guys for clearing the beautiful Blue Lagoon of the rubbish that thoughtless individual have left behind.
thx to the errc becuase if it aws not this group no one will care about the cleaning of the underwater in gozo. i would say also thx to etianne. keep it up
That pile of rubbish could`ve drifted all the way fom the Thames James!
Everything is possible.

Yes of course it did Gozoroo. As I’ve said before if you have nothing intelligent to say shouldn’t you just stay quiet or at least wait until you grow up?
I`ll quit when you and arrogant people like you are off the Maltese map.
Would `ave been betta if you helped fishin out those tyres, Tyrrell
Bit hard to do from Ireland don’t you think? Were you there yourself or are you just engaging in the usual Australian pastime of ‘mouthing’ as we referred to it when I was there?
