In less than 10 days time the curtains will rise on opera in Gozo, when the Aurora produces Verdi’s all-time favourite Il Trovatore, on Saturday October, the 11th, starting at 7.30pm.
The Teatru tal-Opra Aurora would like to announce the opening of a new batch of seats in the Upper Tiers, being sold at €45.00, as demand increases. These seats may be also sold at student-rates, at €20.00 each, provided that ticket holders present valid student-identification documents at the gate. These tickets – limited in number – may be purchased online from www.teatruaurora.com or from the box office (21559452).
The theatre has also said that it once again be offering shuttle transport from the Mgarr ferry terminal in Gozo to the theatre and back. Opera patrons who cross the channel as foot-passengers with the ferry service that leaves Cirkewwa, Malta at 6pm, will find the coach at the Gozo terminal’s main door.
The coach will leave the theatre for the ferry port 30 minutes after the end of the opera. This service is free of charge for opera patrons, but booking by email or www.teatruaurora.com/contact-us is recommended.
Il Trovatore, an opera in 4 acts composed by Giuseppe Verdi will be held under the distinguished patronage of H.E. Dr Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, the President of Malta.
Colin Attard will lead the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra and the Aurora Opera Chorus. Set design and production are entrusted to Novella Tabili. The cast is headed by Michele Crider in the role of Leonora, Stuart Neill as Manrico, Marzio Giossi as Conte di Luna and Mzia Nioradze as Azucena, the gypsy.
The theatre said that as of the 1st of October 1st, stalls tickets at €80, €70 and €60 are practically sold-out. Only a handful of stalls tickets at €45 and €60 tickets in the boxes remains, apart from the new batch in the upper tier.
