Recently, the Malta Self-Defence Academy awarded 8 of its students with a basic self-defence certificate. These students were examined over a variety of self-defence techniques together with a number of blocks, strikes, grabs and locks.
The successful students are: Joseph P Spiteri, Kira Copperstone, Andrea Bianco, Mark Debono, Sarah Bonett, Diane Jones, Donald Mallia and Luigi Mallia.
The Academy said that, “enrolling in a self-defence class is highly beneficial to the practioner. Although one’s primary goal is to learn how to defend one’s self, these classes help one to achieve a healthier psychological and physical state. Students gain immediate improvement in flexibility, stamina, physical strength, self- discipline & self-confidence.”
“Learning to defend oneself is like learning a skill and an art at the same time which need continuous development based on a combination of theory and practice. As in any other form of arts, to master such a skill, a student needs patience, practice, motivation and personal attention, the Academy concluded.”
The Malta Self-Defence Academy is currently accepting applications for its upcoming self-defence classes which are commencing in October. These classes are based on a mixture of classic and modern Chinese martial arts.
