Wirt Ghawdex said that it announces with great pleasure that Mr. Franco Masini has accepted to be nominated as President of the society. The NGO said that “Mr Masini takes on this position with enthusiasm and sees it as a natural extension of his love of Gozo and all it stands for.”
Franco Masini was born in 1937 in Victoria, Gozo. The third child of Dr. Francesco and Elena Masini, he was born in a family which settled in Gozo more than 200 years ago. He studied at St. Aloysius College and later graduated in arts and as a legal procurator from the University of Malta.
He started his career as an Information Officer with the Department of Information but later moved to the private sector and joined Simonds Farsons Cisk Ltd. He quickly moved through the ranks from advertising manager to Company Secretary of the company. Masini served as a director on the boards of Farsons subsidiary companies, the Bank of Valletta, Air Malta and as Chairman of Gozo Channel Ltd. He was also founder-member of the Malta Institute of Certified Secretaries & Administrators and was member of the Malta Institute of Management.
Other leading roles included serving as president of the Malta Trade Fair Corporation, President of the Federation of Industries and President of the Malta Employers Association. He also sat on various authorities including the Broadcasting Authority and the Public Service Commission and is presently a Director of APS Bank Ltd. and Chairman of the Industrial Tribunal.
Franco Masini’s contribution to the local industrial community, wisdom and hard work was recognised when he was awarded the Midalja ghall-Qadi tar-Repubblika (Medal for Service to the Republic).
He married Manola Ellul in 1966 and they have two married daughters, Mariella and Francesca.
Franco Masini describes himself as “a man who takes a deep interest in Gozo’s past, has a foothold in its present and dreams about its future. Those attributes are very much in line with Wirt Ghawdex’s aspirations and the society looks forward to a long and mutually enriching association.”
Wirt Ghawdex said it welcomes Franco Masini as its President.
I congratulate The new President of Wirt Ghawdex Franco Masini from North Carolina USA. I know Franco Masine when very young the late Francesco Masini and my late uncle Dr Salvatore Attard were friends.
I often go on Gozo News and read about Gozo my birth place,a place that is always in my heart no matter were I am well Franco Masini I know you are going to be a good President .Congrat.
