The Ministry Gozo has funded a grant of totalling almost € 19000, to the Gozo Youth Football Association which operates within the Gozo Football Association (GFA), to enable a booklet on obesity to be published. This booklet will be distributed to all households around Gozo in the coming days. The funding was made possible through the NGOs scheme launched by the Ministry for Gozo which is associated with the plan of action 2010-2012 on eco-Gozo,
At the booklet launch, the Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono, explained that the aim of this booklet agrees with the principles of sustainability and social measures listed in the action plan 2010-2012 on eco- Gozo, seeking to promote healthier lifestyles and lead to a society that will ultimately be stronger and with less risk of disease. The booklet will not only be of interest to children and young people, but to anyone who wants to learn about the use of physical exercise to fight obesity.
The booklet contains extensive information ranging from statistics on obesity to information on how this the problem can be controlled especially through physical exercise and a balanced diet.
The GFA will be also benefit from other funding totaling € 50,000 for Water Reservoirs to be built in the Gozo Stadium, with the aim of storing rain water which then can be used in the stadium.
