Nadur Council awarded €70,000 in funds through eco-GozoThe Ministry for Gozo is financing a project which is being undertaken by the Nadur Local Council as part of the eco-Gozo scheme for Local Councils and Administrative Committees, launched by the Ministry for Gozo.

A grant of € 70,000 has been approved under this scheme for the project proposed by the Nadur Local Council, which includes the reconstruction and restoration of some 1,700 square meters of rubble walls and cleaning a large part of of the Bingemma Valley.

The Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono, who was visiting the ongoing works, voiced her appreciation to the Nadur Local Council for its participation in this scheme. She said that “through the construction of rubble walls and by cleaning the valley, the area will be joining with several other localities in Gozo, which together are helping to improve in appearance the wonderful rural environment around the island. At the same time this collective initiative is also addressing the conservation of soil and environmental improvements on the island.”

The Minister continued, “This project is going to improve country walks in Gozo and will lead to less polluting substances flowing down through the San Blas Valley, eventually ending at San Blas beach.”

“The programme of cleaning valleys and the reconstruction of rubble walls taking place around the island which is being conducted by the Ministry for Gozo, has so far has cleared 8 rainwater dams in Gozo valleys. This will help to improve the storage of rain water in Gozo during the winter which last year increased by 18,500 cubic meters,” the Minister for Gozo, concluded .

Perhaps this amount should have been used towards trying to repair some of the damage caused to the Ramla valley by the new cemetery!

Money was spent to buy small swimming pools not graves, thousands of euros were spent to bury their loved ones in dampened tombs RIP.

@Peter (too embarassed to use your real name?)
I suggest that you talk to some of the farmers in the valley and listen to their stories about the bad quality of the spring water now trickling into the valley – and the bodies haven’t even been buried yet, so it can only get worse! The water source was badly damaged and contaminated during the excavations for the cemetery. Mark Cremona and Alan Deidun have often written about this subject.

Your comments are spot on .If Peter is living in cloud nine that`s his fault .All he has got to do is visit all that area and he will soon find out who is telling the truth

As far as I know I only questioned and not attacked you. The answer that you gave me was enough. There was no need to attack me. After all who told you that it is not my name ? Perhaps you are hacking me ?

Defenitely the letter had good points .What we all cannot understand is how this current government in these last 20 years plus never managed to get a decent factory so we gozitans can work over here.

I cannot understand how the only industrial estate we got in Gozo is like a ghost town .Then some controversial project comes up like Ta Cenc,Hondoq and Mgarr hotel and we will be made to believe that they will be our life savers.

We gozitans want SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT eg .

How come none of all those 40 plus companies that are in the gaming industries never opened here in Gozo.

      And also

How come literally no cruise liners come over Oh I forgot that the Maltese want them all for themselves

What we need over here is that whoever is at St Frances Square stand up for us .By this I am referring to Giovanna Debono
